We hope 2017 promises to be a great year we have plenty of things that are going on here at FCIOO and with the Tutelo Nahyssan Tribal Nation.  Above you may print of the 2017 Event Calendar to be able to keep up with the new happenings and the community events.

FCIOO along with RIEOSO will be at most of the events listed to help our members to update their files, accounts and keep up with the petition status.

New for 2016                                                                  
   

       As we come to the close of 2016, FCIOO along with the Nahyssan Nation (aka, Tutelo Nahyssan Tribal Nation of OH) Council will be holding a special meeting November 19, 2016 in view of National Native American Month.  

      This meeting will encompass the last details to the Nahyssan Federal Acknowledgement (FA) Petition process.  It will also explain what you as a member will need to do to keep up and support the Tribe. This meeting is open to the public and will help to answer any concerns that may be addressed.

  • Annual History and Legacy Day at Cutler – April 30, 2016 – Join the Cutler Community Center and MGC in exploring the history of the Ohio River Valley area and the rich cultural connection within the community.  Kitchen will be open come share your stories and take a walk into the past.

 

  • Genealogy work session, May 21, 2016 – RIEOSO will be working on the family genealogy at the Nahyssan Conference room 10:00 a.m. Join the 1 hour Tribal Council Meeting.  Light Refreshments 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Add your genealogy information into our data base to see your connection to the Tribe. 

 

  • FCIOO Open House – June 18, 2016 Join in a meeting of the Nahyssan and ask your question, update your files and enjoy the refreshments.  Nahyssan Conference room 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m.


  • FCIOO General Meeting - July 30, 2016 - All members welcome, open session begins 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. in the Tribal Conference room at the Cutler Community Center, 4550 Two Mile Run Road, Cutler, Ohio 45724.


  • Tabler/Munn Family Celebration - August 6, 2016 - Celebrate the origin of Tabler Town (Kilvert) circa 1830.  Starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Kilvert Community Center 21120 McGraw Rd.   • Tabler Family Gathering/Reunion August 27, 2016 – Federal Hocking High School doors open at 11:00 a.m. lunch starts 12:30 p.m.  Bring your favorite dish.

 

  • Rush-Tabler Family Gathering/Reunion October, 2016 – At the Chesterhill Community Center. Bring your favorite dish.  More to Come Date to Be Announced.

 

  • November, 2016 – Date TBA, in view of National Native American Month – A power point with petition updates and memories of the Tutelo Nahyssan Tribal Nation in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Comfort Casserole Cook Off - Enjoy a short presentation at the Cutler Community Center Gym.  Refreshments, soda, water and desserts available from the Kitchen. All you can eat from our Contestants.  A $5.00 entrance fee for this event 12 years and over.

       A Message for the Member of the Board, 

      We would like to thank the members for there support at the Oral History Weekend event held in January.

      March is proving to be an interesting month with spring around the corner.  There are a lot of exciting and good things happening this year so make sure to keep up to date here and at the Tribal office at the Cutler community center.  Always remember if you have questions or concerns you may contact the office through any of the communication methods on the contact page.

     

IMPORTANT MEMBER INFORMATION 

     There will be a special members meeting held in May 2015 the date will be announced soon so watch for flyers and the next newsletter to inform you as to what to do.  It will be at the community center in Cutler.  All out of state members will be informed through the mail service.  If you have questions contact the Bedford Office to make sure we have all the needed information to contact you.

  Greetings to all the Newsletter for the winter editing you can find on the Newsletter and Forms Page the Oral History Weekend up and coming is of importance for the Tribe.  Hope to see you there.

 We will be making some changes to the format of our web site upgrading and adding new information to the page.  A special addition to the Newsletter has been posted.  Join us at the upcoming Bakers' Fest, FCIOO will be running the kitchen to help with fundraising for the organization.  Come out and support the tribe 

 FCIOO November  2014 _________________________________________________________________________________

       November is National Native American Month.  FCIOO will be hosting its 10th Anniversary celebration this month on the 22nd there will be several announcements made concerning the petition process progress.  It is important that the members keep their accounts up to date and accurate with phone numbers, address changes, new births, age and legal name changes.  Application can be found on the Newsletter and Forms page within the web site.  To change any information on your application just fill out the form and mail it to the Bedford or Chesterhill office to add to your account.  

     Communication is vital during the petition process for members to receive benefits and compensation.  Make sure to update you account today.  All files are being reviewed and statements and missing document letters are being sent out the help you keep your account current.  Starting in January the office will be open one Saturday per month just for updating files and receiving payments on accounts.  Remember small monthly payments are acceptable.  See the meetings page for the next dates in December and January, other dates will be posted through out 2015.       

     RIEOSO will be conducting the first Oral History Weekend January 10, 2015.  All Tribal members can bring in their historical family or community stories to share and add them to the petition review.  RIEOSO is interested in all family history especially information related to the 1920's and 1930's.  Hope to see you there, come for the fun, come for the food.  

     Remember FCIOO will be accepting donations to raise money for RIEOSO to host a full regalia Powwow in 2015.  Bake food sales and auctions assist the Tribe to benefit through all social events conducted at the Cutler Community Center and other events held by FCIOO remember to support the Tribe.   

     See you at the Annual Event, food, fun, games and prizes to share.     Exciting things will be happening in 2015.  Watch for Flyers and Newsletters to come out and keep well informed.

           Hello!    Many new and exciting things are happening here at FCIOO.     We have made updates and changes to our website hoping to help inform our members better and faster.  The Fall edition of the Newsletter is here, pick up yours at any function, social gathering, event or meeting.  The Annual Event has been announced for 2014 see the meetings page for the date, time and place.  Hope to see you there.

 FCIOO March  2014 ________________________________________________________________________________________

     FCIOO welcome to 2014.  At first we would like to apologize for not having our site updated within the last few months, we have been and are currently making a few changes in the organization and updating our records and new information.

     Our Annual Event of 2013 was a success.  We would like to thank all for their participation and assistance.  Thank you to the Cutler Community Center for letting FCIOO share the unique cultural display of the Tutelo Nahyssan Tribal Nation.  Items and articles have been donated by many of the members from their family heirlooms and private collections. You may view some of our highlights and photos of the event.

     Visit RIEOSO web page for updated information on our projects for the Annual Event for 2014 plans are underway for many exciting things to happen this year.  Use the contact tab within this site and click on the link to RIEOSO.  

     Our meeting page will also be updated in the next few days in order to keep you better informed.  Our last meeting in January 2014 kicked off a series of DVD viewings that will be listed for the general community to come and share in learning about the Native American Heritage in the Southeastern, Ohio.  Come and learn about the history of the people in the Community.

     We are planning on making 2014 a prosperous year and filled with many memories and Tribal Traditions.  Once again thank you for your patience and support.

 FCIOO September 2013 - 2014 News

     The FCIOO Board Members have been working diligently to assist the members with their needs.  We are currently working on staffing the Cutler Office so that members can stop in and update their accounts.  We are also working on creating new membership cards.  Obtaining the software and adjusting our computers are taking some time. 

     A new Newsletter will be out in the up coming month to keep you informed as to what is going on and important meeting dates.  We would like to thank our members for their support and efforts in assisting FCIOO.

 FCIOO September 2012 News

      A new fiscal year has begun here at FCIOO and we are getting things underway.  We plan to have our Annual Event in October of this year see your newsletter and watch the local papers.  We will be having Parnell Necklace with the Maza Napin Native American Drum Group there should be plenty for all to do.  The Caffateria will be open and we will some vendors.  Doors Open at 12:00pm noon Hope to see you all there.  

      Billing statements will be arriving soon, you may update your account at the Annual Event or you may send in your payment, to the Bedford office, please send check or money order, do not send cash. 

     If you wish to make a cash payment you may do so in person at any meeting noted on the meeting page with time and place posted.  Or you may contact Sherry, Sheila or Joni to receive your cash payment.

  FCIOO June 2012 News

     As we greet Summer with the increase length of the daylight hours we look forwards to exciting announcements and a time to celebrate with our fellow brothers and sisters. 

     Plans are being made to assist us in our cultural endeavors to have educational classes given by Parnell Iron Necklace.  We will post the classes here on our website and will send out information concerning the dates and times.  We hope to have the first of them during our Annual Event held this year on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Cutler Community Center.

     The first of these classes will be about Dance and our Social Gatherings known as Powwow’s.  We look forward to the participation of all Tribal members as well as the Community.  Come join us for music fun and dancing.  More information to come, the news letter will be sent out and posted her on our website in August 2012.

     Make sure all you membership information is correct with address and phone numbers so that FCIOO may contact you on upcoming events and special announcements.  Please continue to update your accounts, also statements are being sent out with current balances and updated information.  Thank you for your continued support and efforts.  See the meeting tab to join us as we plan the upcoming events.

      Welcome to Spring!  As the earth awakens to a new morning we welcome spring and all of the events nature has to offer.  There are many things going on within the next few months.  You will find the new newsletter filled with updated information print off your copy as well as the April flyers'.  

     Thanks to all for their support and volunteer sprit at the January "Cultural Event".  Many hands make the work light.  We are in the planning stages for the Annual Event to be held in October 2012.  See the meetings updates to be able to attend all are welcomed.

 FCIOO January 2012 News

 Our next meeting is January 28, 2012.  There will be a special Traditions and Culture Event by Sunceray Tabler.  You may participate and learn to make your own jewelry, learn about "Pow Wow Etiquette", fan making, drumming and about traditional dancing and more.  The event is from 10:00am until 3:00pm.  Lunch served at cost (all funds support the CCC community building fund) 12:00pm to 1:00pm.  We invite all ages to participate.  Come out and support the Tribe and Community.

                 Native American Recipes..........................$ 3.00

                You may pick them up at the office or our next event. 

 

  FCIOO December 2011 News

The Annual Event on December 10, 2011 was a sure success we would like to thank all that had a share in the festivities. We had many vendors with unique gift ideals and crafts. We hope to have more at our next event.  We would like to thank all who helped in the kitchen and our vendors.

We ask all heads of household to fill out the FCIOO Family Survey form and return it by January 15, 2012

Remember to keep your accounts up to date Annual fees are due.  Thank you for your assistance.

All the sweets and breads at our bake sale table went well.  Raymond's donated pies auctioned at big prices and Tootsie's Black Berry Pie.....well let's just say it was worth the bid!

Our 5th Annual Event, is:

Saturday,  December 10, 2011 at the Cutler Community Center, 4550 Two Mile Run Road, Cutler, Ohio.  The Event will be held in the gym.  Come visit us for food, fun, music and more.  See the FCIOO Flyers 121011 PDF for more information.

Admission to the event is free.  There will be food, drinks and sweets available for purchase. Proceeds support our scholarship fund and local projects.

Your Newsletter will be in printed format soon look for it in the mail.  It will also be posted on the newsletter page of our web site.

Account Statements will be available soon, look for them in the up coming weeks.  If you have questions as always you may contact the office.

There will be a members meeting with new information pertaining to the FA process and updates on the Oral History project conducted by RIEOSO.  Don't miss out keep informed and support the Tribe.

Council Meeting Saturday, October 1, 2011.  Come in and update your files the committee will be there from 10:00am until 1:00pm to help you fill out applications, pedigree forms, new applicants, add new births and receive payment on past and new 2011-20112 service year dues. 

We would like to thank all who had a part in the donations and assisting at our venders table on September 3, 2011 for our fundraiser event. Thank You!

 FCIOO September 2011 News:

We are looking for volunteers to help us keep the office open at least 2 Saturday's a month through out the next service year 2011-2012.  Contact Rolita, Sheila, Joni or Sherry if you are interested in volunteering.

The Cutler  Community Center, in Cutler, Ohio, will be holding a Flea Market Event on Saturday, September 3, 2011, from 9:00am - 4:00pm.  The Local Men's Group will be grilling and serving meals for donations. 

FCIOO will have Raffles, Pies, Cookies Candles, Native American Jewelry, Dolls, Sheila's Cheese Balls, and Much, Much More.  All donations support the Tribe's projects and scholarships.    

Come out and give us a peek and Support our efforts.

 FCIOO August 2011 News:

We are awaiting the results of the ANA Grant that RIEOSO has submitted.  Information should be received by September 2011.  Visit us for the announcemnts.  Our Newsletter will be available when the ANA update information is received.  Thank you for your Support.

Our research department is looking for grant funding opportunities. RIEOSO will be conducting a survey, use the link on the contact page to review the PDF file on RIEOSO's website in the news section.  All heads of  household  members  of  the  Tutelo  Nahyssan Tribal  Nation  are requested  to  complete  the  survey (19years and older fill out an individual form).     Information  obtained  is confidential.  If  you  have  questions  or  concerns  send  an  e-mail   to: fcioo@sbcglobal.net

 FCIOO News:

     Please make sure your accounts are up to date this will affect your status with the tribal enrollment list sent to the BIA.  Update your new address, phone number and new births and family members. 

     At this time we will no longer be requesting certified birth certificates.  If you would like your certificate returned to you please send a self addressed stamped enveloped with a request letter we will make a copy and send you the original.  Contact Joni Mayle at the Chesterhill address listed on the contact page of this website.

     We have begun card distribution if you have not received you card contact Rolita Tabler at the Bedford address and she will update your information and let you know of your account status. 

     If you are requesting membership with The Federal Creek Indian Organization of Ohio please write to the Bedford or Chesterhill addresses to receive an application packet.  Processing will usually take 6 to 8 weeks.   

 

 

Tutelo Nahyssan Tribal Nation News 

     The site for the Tutelo Nahyssan Tribal Nation is being completed, you will find the link on the contact page of this site soon.  We are making progress with the petition process in assisting the tribe to gather the information needed for the BIA review process.  if you have questions please feel free to contact us at our e-mail address: nahyssantibe@sbcglobal.net .  The Tribe is ever moving forward.   "The future is now."

Our Elders Information Center

      Medicare is making some changes to benefits.  You should carefully review all information that is being sent to you through the mail.   You may need assistance completing paperwork.  Call the necessary numbers noted within the brochure you receive.  

 

 

Collecting History 

     Our Elders generally collect post cards and family heritage items.  RIEOSO is looking for items pertaining to family reunions, gatherings and news articles.  If you have any items that you would like to share please contact them.
